Join Uncensored New York and Printed Matter for the launch of Joseph Cochran’s latest work, Forays, Frontiers & Flags at Printed Matter Chelsea. Featuring readings from Samantha Sutcliffe of Uncensored New York, Ripley Soprano of Dirty Magazine, and S!LENCE.

A glimpse into the development of Chochran’s practice over the last twelve years, Forays, Frontiers & Flags weaves personal images with snapshots from the artist’s photographic research, taking the viewer on a global journey through contemporary society. From the United States to China, Africa to Europe, Cochran’s work allows the viewer to position themselves in spaces and geographies the artist has found himself in during states of change. China’s resurgence to superpower status, Hong Kong’s fight for freedom, the migration crisis in the Mediterranean, the chilling effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, and more are shown through direct and indirect imagery. Meanwhile, accompanying interviews, archival documents and texts catalog the history of our time.

Ripley Soprano is the publisher of Dirty Magazine.
