This is a zine made by Millie with Citation Needed.
Designed in the style of a composition notebook, A Scribble in my Brain takes the reader through the process, including the trials and errors, of making a book. Filled with Milly’s art experiments, notes, and pages from her journal, this unique publication feels like it truly could be the inside of someone’s brain.
Milly is a tall 5th grade person who likes to play basketball, lives in the East Village, has friends, has an apartment, and loves being outside. Milly has a sister, a mom, and a dad and goes to PS 40. She likes singing and fashion. Her favorite food is soup dumplings and spaghetti, separately.
Citation Needed is an intergenerational publishing initiative, supporting the creation and production of artist books by 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Through a weekly workspace, participants generate individual and collaborative books, utilizing photocopiers, typewriters, and a range of drawing materials. Citation Needed provides project-based arts experiences for children while amplifying their voices through the printed matter and book arts. This initiative is led by artist Ari Wolff, in collaboration with the 14th Street Y After School and Printed Matter / St Marks.
