A document Made my Paul Thek and Edwin Klein
Alexander and Bonin, 2011, limited facsimile edition of 500 copies, Unpaginated, 12" x 16", Softcover.
Originally published by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and Moderna Museet, Stockholmduring the Amsterdam exhibition of Paul Thek, May 1969. The re-issue was co-published by Edwin Klein and Alexander and Bonin, 2011 in an edition of 500.
An artists’ book consisting of a series of photographs made by Thek and the artist Edwin Klein in 1969 as they prepared for an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. The pictures are basically still lifes of random objects – “whatever was lying around,” Mr. Klein recalls in a terrific little catalog – arranged on a double page of The International Herald Tribune. The contents include museum postcards, pornographic magazines, Polaroids of the artists at work, mushrooms, cigarette butts, hyacinth blossoms, wine bottles. From picture to picture, things high and low come and go; narratives, psychological and social, unfold. -Publisher
