Join us for conversation between artists Anicka Yi and Ross Simonini, starting 6 pm. The dialog will focus on how both artists have used reading, writing, and fictional world building as a means toward working in visual art. Join the event on Facebook here

Simonini’s debut novel The Book of Formation (Melville House) will be available for purchase. For the evening, Simonini will display a selection of objects at Printed Matter related to the novel, including tools, notebooks, drawings, and transformed books.

Ross Simonini is an artist and writer. He most recently exhibited fifty-five of his anxiety napkins at the Sharjah Biennial. He is the interviews editor for The Believer magazine and contributes interviews to Art in America, frieze, Interview, and ArtReview. The Book of Formation is his first novel.

Anicka Yi lives and works in New York City. Recent institutional solo exhibitions of her work include the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Fridericianum, Kassel; Kunsthalle Basel; List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, Massachusetts; The Kitchen, New York; and The Cleveland Museum of Art. In 2016, she was awarded the Hugo Boss Prize. Yi has screened her film, The Flavor Genome, at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam in 2017. She is represented by 47 Canal, New York.
